- MD’s on staff at Frye and Catawba Hospitals, as well as accepting BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Medcost and most commercial insurance plans, plus Worker’s Compensation insurance. Patients may call ahead and inquire as to acceptance of their particular carrier if any question. We currently do not file Medicare or Medicaid at our facility, however we offer a discounted rate to our self-pay patients.
- On-Site Lab. We have many lab tests available for same day results and also utilize Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for send-out testing and cultures.
- Radiology Services – Full Body Digital X-ray Capabilities. Your family physician can order X-rays while seeing you in their office and send you to PUC for the desired studies. You will return to them with X-ray CD in hand for evaluation by your physician. Your doctor may keep the disc for future reference. Alternatively, your doctor may have Catawba Radiology read the X-rays, and have a report sent to their office. Various local practices are already utilizing this convenient service.
- IV Infusion Services. We can administer IV Fluids, IV Meds, and IV Antibiotics. Your physician can call in a Verbal Order to our nurse or write desired treatments on an office prescription to be sent to our office with you.
- On-Site Consultations. Occasionally a patient may need orthopaedic, surgical specialty, or medical specialty evaluation for a particular problem prior to disposition or for potential admission. Consultants often find the process much more streamlined and efficient to see them at PUC rather than the ER. It not only saves the consultant time, but also saves the patient money, as our charges are significantly less than an ER. If indicated, the patient may be a Direct Admission to either local hospital with orders sent with them.
* An MD evaluation will not be performed on patients sent with orders for X-rays or Infusion Services unless requested or complications were to arise while here.
